Tonight is the big night!

Crystal and Lee have been my faves ever since Hollywood week and I will be buying both of their CD's no matter the outcome of tonight's show.

I love how when Crystal sings it just comes from her soul and I just get swept right up. Love the raspier side of her and then she changes it up with the smooth soft songbird sounds and it just amazes me.

Then Lee sings, and ohgosh that growly, raspy side of his voice just melts me! Love his sound and when he is able to shake his nerves he just totally rocks!

Crystal was my first fave, but I bounce back and forth each time the other one opens their mouth to sing. I am so torn! I think I have to lean toward Crystal (sorry Lisa!) but who knows what will happen tonight. All I do know is that my pal Darlene is AT the show LIVE, and I can't wait to hear all about what it is like to be there and not watching it all from this side of the tv.

Just a little bit envious... ;D

Oh what a beautiful evening

Today was HOT, just plain sticky and HOT. But tonight there is a warm, light breeze and bright, bright moonlight, and it is simply a gorgeous spring evening outside. While sitting on my deck enjoying the night I grabbed my camera and decided to play a bit. I totally love my Canon Xsi and I dream of the day I can splurge on a nice zoom lense to replace the kit lense, but OMG - look at the shot I was able to capture tonight!

But shhhh! If my husband finds out my camera can do this, he may not see my 'need' for that zoom I want, LOL!

Life is One Big Nap - part 3

While my 4 year old played with her toys on the sofas in the living room, Dory decided she would take a nap right in the middle of all the activity.  Nothing gets in the way of sleep with this cat.

Lacy Tags

I am in a tag swap this month and made 10 of these tags.  We could make simple or fancy tags - whatever we wanted, and I decided to do something that fell somewhere in the middle.  I love the Basic Grey papers so much that I didn't want to cover them up so I just added a little ribbon and a pearl strand and then topped them with one of my crochet flowers that I just learned to make.  I love the pearl brad look with these flowers.  The scallop border was done with my new SU punch (love love love that one!).  I really hope my swapping pals enjoy these!

I love SPRING!

Spring has really sprung in my yard.  The colors are everywhere - and so are the busy little critters.  Here are a few peeks at some of the wonderful colors in my corner of the world (check out the critters buzzing and crawling around too).  With so many beautiful choices, I have to laugh at the last photo which is my 4 year old's favorite "flower" right now, lol!

This one is at my daughter's school - oh how I wish it were in MY yard!

ok....ready?  .....drum roll please.......

Altered Tray

Another GIBBS2 item - I found this tray in Bed Bath and Beyond but didn't like the weathered wood look it had because it was too dirty looking.  I loved the grooved texture though so I bought it anyway and figured I'd just give it a new look.  I painted it a fresh ivory color and then added some cardstock borders and K&CO papers to the inside.  I mod podged the entire thing three times so deb could actually use it for drinks and snacks while watching tv if she wanted to.

Life Is One Big Nap - part 2

In all fairness I should post a pic of my witchy cat Willow too, because although she is indeed the orneriest cat I've ever met, she does look adorable when napping in the sun.  So here is my cranky old lady of a cat Willow in one of her favorite poses...

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

I have one of those pretty calendar frame holders for my calendar that I keep track of appointments and birthdays and such, and I love it except that I can't flip the pages up to peek at the next month which means I always seem to miss or almost miss whatever is happening the first week of each month - like Teacher Appreciation Week, ugh.  I already had an idea of what I wanted to make for my daughter's 4 teachers but now I only had a couple days so I was feeling the pressure.

I've never made these stationary sets before but after the first one they were pretty easy.  I found instructions on the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot HERE and the only note you should make is for Part B Step 1: the instructions say to score at 1" on three sides but you should actually score at  1 1/4" instead or your shelf will be too wide for your box.

I didn't have time to add extra embellishments other than a ribbon on the lids, but the papers are so pretty that I think they work ok alone (yay K&CO!).  The cards I made had to be pretty basic too since I had to assembly-line them 16 times for each size.  And just to keep things interesting the night before I had to have these ready a tree fell onto some power lines next door and I had no power from the afternoon till after 9pm!  OMG!  So old school methods had to replace my fancy Silhouette's designs that I had been working on and I pulled out my Epic6 and some embossing folders and got busy by candle light.  I also used my new distressing tool from CTMH - ohgosh this is my new favorite must-have!

The pencil cards are a Silhouette design.
